(please post at your institution and forward to interested parties) POSITIONS AVAILABLE IN DISTRIBUTED PROGRAMMING FOR MOZART --------------------------------------------------------- In the wake of the first public release of the Mozart Programming System, an advanced platform for robust distributed programming and constraint programming, the PIRATES project at the Department of Computing Science and Engineering, Universite catholique de Louvain, is looking for researchers, starting immediately. We are looking for talented and motivated Ph.D. students or postdocs, or people with equivalent or more advanced background, with interest or experience in one or more of: - Design and implementation of languages and systems for distributed programming. - Distributed algorithms, models, and abstractions for fault tolerance, security, resource management, and scalability. - Result-oriented research based on a relentless search for simplicity. - Collaborative applications developed in Mozart and its successors. The PIRATES project collaborates with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the University of the Saarland, and the Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS) in the design and implementation of Mozart. PIRATES is conceived as a feedback loop between research-oriented platform development and advanced application development. Starting dates of the positions are flexible, but should be preferably as soon as possible. Remuneration is competitive and according to the candidate's experience.
