Laboratoire des étudiants - Students' labs

Le Département possède quatre laboratoires pour étudiants, qui peuvent servir également de salles de cours. Ces laboratoires constituent l'essentiel des ressources informatiques mises à la disposition des étudiants qui suivent les cours d'informatique du département. Un système de contrôle d'accès les autorise à y travailler quand ils le souhaitent, de jour comme de nuit. En outre, un réseau sans fil, offert par Intel et inauguré le 8 novembre 2002, leur permet de travailler avec leur ordinateur portable personnel dans ces laboratoires.
Plusieurs types d'architectures sont accessibles: Sparc (Ordinateurs d'architecture RISC de Sun Microsystems), PC Pentium.
Les systèmes d'exploitation sont également variés: de type Unix (Solaris et Linux) et de type Windows (Windows 2000).

The Department has four students laboratories that can also be used as classes. These laboratories are the main computing resources offered to students learning computing science and engineering in the department. An access control system enables them to work in the labs at their best convenience, day and night. Besides, a wireless network, donated by Intel and dedicated on November 8, 2002 enables them to work with their personal notebook computer.
Different architectures are provided: Sparc (Computers with a RISC architecture from Sun Microsystems), PC Pentium.
Various operating systems are available: Unix type (Solaris and Linux) and Windows type ( Windows 2000).

 



Laboratoire didactique donation Intel (b.074)

La société INTEL a fait don au Département, d'un laboratoire didactique équipé de PCs à l'intention des étudiants informaticiens de l'UCL. Le soutien de cette société à nos efforts pour former de bons informaticiens en plus grand nombre est un témoignage important de notre volonté commune de répondre aux besoins de la société de la connaissance. Ce laboratoire a été inauguré le 20 septembre 2000 par M. T. G. Saponas, Manager INTEL International Education Programs et par le Recteur M. Crochet.

 



Didactic laboratory donation Intel (b.074)

INTEL Corporation has donated the equipment for a computing laboratory intended for UCL students graduating in computing science and engineering. This donation helps us to better train a larger number of computing specialists, thereby helping to respond to one of the more pressing needs of the knowledge society. The Laboratory has been dedicated on September 20, 2000 by Mr. T. G. Saponas, Manager INTEL International Education Programs and by Rector M. Crochet.

 



Laboratoire didactique Werner von Siemens (b.026, b.022)

A l'occasion du centenaire de sa présence en Belgique, la société Siemens a offert au Département INGI une infrastructure didactique de PCs. Elle a été inaugurée le 29 septembre 1998 par MM Sommeville, Deprest et Legrand ainsi que par le Recteur M. Crochet. Ce laboratoire a été entièrement renouvelé par Fujitsu-Siemens en septembre 2002.

 



Didactic laboratory Werner von Siemens (b.026, b.022)

On the occasion of its hundred years of presence in Belgium Siemens society offered a didactic infrastructure of PCs to the Department. The Laboratory has been dedicated on September 29, 1998 by MM Sommeville, Deprest, Legrand, and by Rector M. Crochet. This laboratory has been entirely renewed by Fujitsu-Siemens in September 2002.



Laboratoire didactique Bill Joy (b.027, b.033)

Le laboratoire Bill Joy est une salle de cours et un laboratoire didactique comportant des stations Sunray connectées à un serveur multiprocesseur SPARC contrôlé par un système Solaris.
Ce laboratoire a bénéficié d'un important mécénat de Sun Microsystems Belgium.



Didactic laboratory Bill Joy (b.027, b.033)

The Bill Joy laboratory is a classroom and a didactic laboratory that contains Sunray stations connected to a SPARC multiprocessor server running Solaris.
This laboratory benefitted from a significant donation by Sun Microsystems Belgium.
